Embracing Sustainability: Our 2024 Green Office Initiatives

Following our achievement of the WWF Green Office certification in the previous year (Read more HERE), and as 2024 unfolds, our commitment to sustainability is stronger than ever. Although it’s just April, we’re eager to showcase the progress we’ve achieved in our journey towards sustainability this year. We’ve launched several new initiatives, ranging from small-scale changes to larger, more impactful projects designed to further reduce our environmental footprint and promote sustainable practices within our workplace. Each initiative, regardless of its size, plays a crucial role in reducing our environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices within our workplace.

1. Sustainable Office Design: Choosing to Clean, Not Replace

Our commitment to making mindful, eco-friendly decisions extends to the very infrastructure of our office. In designing our new workspace, we chose to clean and refurbish the existing carpet instead of replacing it, significantly minimising waste and our carbon footprint. Moreover, we embraced the principle of sustainability in our approach to office furnishings. By opting to use our old furniture and only purchasing what was absolutely necessary, we’ve demonstrated our dedication to reducing environmental impact. This decision reflects our broader commitment to resource conservation and underscores the importance of reusing and repurposing as key elements of our sustainability strategy.

2. Introducing New Lunch Boxes: Less Waste, More Taste

To combat the excessive waste generated from disposable lunch containers, we’ve introduced a new initiative encouraging employees to use reusable lunch boxes for takeaways. This effort aims to significantly reduce our reliance on single-use packaging. By choosing these durable and eco-friendly boxes over disposable containers, we not only minimise waste but also foster a culture of sustainability within our team. It’s a simple switch with profound environmental benefits.

3. Vegan Options First: Committing to Plant-Based Living

In our journey towards a more sustainable and ethical office environment, MORS has adopted a policy to prioritise vegan options whenever catering choices are made for the office. This initiative represents a significant step towards plant-based living, acknowledging the lower environmental impact of vegan foods compared to animal-based products. With this, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also encourage a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle among our team members. It’s a commitment that extends beyond just offering vegan buns; it’s about making a conscious choice for sustainability and animal welfare with every meal catered in our office. We’ve already introduced vegan buns and even vegan burgers, and even our most dedicated meat eaters have embraced these plant-based options without complaint!

A Year of Sustainable Growth

These initiatives mark the beginning of our commitment to a greener future in 2024. By adopting these practices early in the year, we aim to set a precedent for sustainability within our company and our community. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of these initiatives and encourage our team to actively participate in our sustainability efforts. Sustainability is a collective journey, and every small action contributes to a larger impact. Together, let’s continue to innovate and lead by example, proving that a sustainable and environmentally friendly workplace is within our reach!
